Daily Specials are announced Wednesday - Sunday in the News section of the Website www.Spanishwellsclub.com.
A small group of men involved at the Spanish Wells Club discussed an idea as to how they can contribute in a small way to help-out our local charities who work so hard for our island. The answer was to form "100 Men Who Care" for Hilton Head Island. With this email, we invite any of you who want to get involved with our charitable organization to commit to four meetings for one hour duration each, during the next 12 months.
We now have 50+ men involved in the group that will be making an impact in the community every quarter. Not an original idea, but one that is working well nationally. This quarter we are focusing on three local charities with pressing needs and will discuss different charities every 3 months going forward.
This model of the organization is based on a national alliance of “100 Who Care”. The ladies on the island started a chapter a few years ago and have grown to 180+ members. The ladies leverage a model created in 2007 named "100 Who Care Alliance." Currently, the alliance has 700+ member organizations around the world using the model, while they do not extract a fee for the service.
The 100 Men Who Care on Hilton Head, are part of a group which meet 4 times a year to review needs, prioritize efforts and vote for a worthy local charity. Each quarter, organizations are nominated for consideration by the participants. The members select charities for consideration and share the opportunities. After a 5-minute presentation on each non-profit, a vote is taken to decide a winner, all in 60 minutes.
The men on the island have kicked off this process and are now meeting once a quarter to discuss the needs of the non-profits on the island. The program has three basic goals:
Impactful - When you donate to a charity, you may wonder if you are making a difference. But when 100 people donate $100 at the same time, they raise $10,000 to a worthy cause. Now THAT makes an impact.
Simple - No volunteering, no telemarketing, no event planning, no silent auction donations to solicit. It only takes ONE hour.
Local - There is amazing work being done by local non-profits in the Hilton Head area. You can make an immediate and positive impact in our community. 100% of your donation will go directly to a local charity.
Our next meeting is April 8th, 5pm, at the Spanish Wells Club.
Please take a look at the website for men, www.100MenWhoCareHHI.com for more information. The main contact for our chapter is Mike Bruce 404-660-3121.
If there are any women who might also be interested and want to get involved, please look at the 100+ Women Who Care website www.100wwchhi.org or the main contact for the women's Hilton Head group is Darlene Schuetz yosedar@icloud.com.
This is not a solicitation for donations or endorsement of any particular charity. Neither GW Services nor the Spanish Wells POA are requesting or accepting donations for the "100 Men Who Care" organization. This email is intended to simply raise awareness of a charitable organization that meets in our neighborhood to provide neighbors with an opportunity to participate should they have an interest in doing so.
Thanks

As you can see there is a project underway to beautify and make the side pathway around the clubhouse safer. The gate on the dock is out for repair and will return shortly. The exterior netting on the tennis courts has been repaired. Work on the Pump and the Pump House on the course will begin soon.
The staff are researching a new system for entering and reconciling all the Food and Beverage tickets. We are doing this to reduce the confusion caused by dates of purchase sometimes not matching exactly to the dates shown on your monthly statement. In the meantime they will endeavor to enter all tickets with the correct dates. To facilitate this please date all Food and Beverage Tickets.
The Board along with the staff is exploring all options to reopen the Clubhouse, the Grill and the Calibogue room. As soon as we have developed a safe plan we will let you know. In the meantime be safe and enjoy.

President Spanish Wells Club

As you would expect, the meeting’s format will differ from prior years as we take appropriate precautions relating to the health & safety of our members and staff professionals.
Given the progress made at last year’s meeting to improve the governance of the club (with new by-laws put in place to reflect the changes to the club over the past 50 years) the agenda for the 2021 meeting is quite focused.
We will:
> Receive a report on the club’s financial condition
> Hold elections for 3 of the 9 Board seats
> Respond to relevant questions from the Members
This year, we will not be hosting a happy hour after the meeting. That social gathering will be scheduled later in the year when COVID-19 concerns have been allayed.
If you are interested in putting your name forth for election to the Board of Managers, please provide Bill a “position paper” describing the skills you hope to bring to bear on behalf of the club, as well as any specific objectives you would hope to advance if on the Board.
Please submit these in electronic format no later than February 14th to Bill or Logan.
If you would like to discuss what Board Membership entails, please contact any of the Club’s Board Officers (Bill has our contact details).
The Board is hoping to attract members with Food & Beverage experience (management not just enjoying) as well as Legal expertise.
In order to facilitate an efficient meeting, we will be accepting election ballots to be dropped off or mailed to the club starting on February 21st.
You will have the opportunity to vote for specific candidates, write-in an eligible member as a candidate, or give your proxy to the President or other officer of the club to execute the vote on your behalf.
Ballots must be received by noon (12pm) on Saturday 27 February.
We will email ballots to you as well as have them available at the club in paper format for your convenience. Valid ballots or proxies must have the member’s name and signature legibly written as appropriate.
If you have any questions or concerns feel free to contact either of us, or Bill.
With regards,

The Tees, Fairways, and Roughs are looking great. We have sprayed a fungicide for the Tees and a post-emerge for our fairways to control winter growth of unwanted grasses and weeds.
Our new employee working mid-day maintenance on the Tennis Courts is doing great and is able to achieve a lot of work during his time here.
We are working on getting quotes for some drainage work on fairway 2 and 3.
